The Manitoba Classroom Guitar Association will be piloting a new mentorship program to support educators new to the profession and/or to classroom guitar education. The intent will be to connect mentees with an experienced guitar education mentor either informally or through classroom visitations and observations. Traditional music classroom approaches don’t always translate to the guitar classroom. Effective guitar education requires a student-centred approach and specialized training—something rarely addressed in teacher preparation programs in Manitoba.
